Nagual

Origin and tradition

Nagual traditions concern relationships between people, animal counterparts, and transformation in parts of Mesoamerica. Meanings vary across communities and periods. A protective animal companion should not automatically be equated with a harmful sorcerer; these are distinct interpretations within a wider body of belief.
